I don't know where my cleanout is. Can you still trace it?

Accepted Answer

The trace needs an accessible cleanout: most homes have one near the foundation on the street side, sometimes buried under mulch or rock, and we look for it when we arrive. If you have no cleanout, tell us when you book. A plumber can add one, and until there is a way in we cannot run the sonde, so we would rather say that up front than charge you for a trip.

Where do you do sewer lateral locates?

Accepted Answer

Colorado Springs, Monument, Palmer Lake, Larkspur, Castle Rock, Falcon and the Denver metro. Sites within about 30 miles of Colorado Springs carry no travel charge; farther out, a flat travel fee is shown on the quote before you approve it.

What if the line is blocked or collapsed?

Accepted Answer

The sonde stops where the blockage or the collapse is. We mark the pipe up to that point and record in writing where the trace ended, which is often exactly the spot the plumber needs. A trip charge applies to a trace that cannot be completed. Once the line is cleared, a second pass finishes the run.

Will 811 mark my sewer lateral?

Accepted Answer

No. 811 marks the sewer main in the street and stops at the property line or the tap. The lateral from there to your house is yours, and 811 does not trace it. Call 811 anyway if you are digging; it is free and it is required. Then have the lateral marked privately.

Question 5

Do you inspect the pipe with a camera?

Accepted Answer

No. This is a locate, not an inspection: we find where the pipe runs, we do not look inside it or judge its condition. If you need to know whether the line is cracked, rooted or bellied, a plumber's camera inspection does that, and our marks tell them where to dig if it comes to that.
